Hello
My name is Jessica Doebber! I am currently a graduate student at Maryville University working towards a Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling to help those in need. I am passionate about helping people with disabilities live happy fulfilling lives through mental health services and career counseling.
More About Me.
My name is Jessica Doebber. I am currently a student at Maryville University. I completed my B.A. of Psychology in May of 2023. My university gave me the unique opportunity to start my master's degree before I fully completed my undergraduate program. I am projected to finish my M.A. in Rehabilitation Counseling in December of 2024. I have a strong interest in helping individuals with disabilities live productive and fulfilling lives through mental health services and work.
I completed internship hours at Step-by-Step Counseling, a group private practice, where I learned the ins and outs of mental health counseling. I learned how to create and facilitate groups, and worked with my own caseload of individual clients. My project through this internship experience was creating and facilitating a DBT for Families group. Along with two other therapists, I created a plan, marketed the group, and co-facilitated it over the course of 6 months.
I also completed internship hours with the Office of Inclusive Post-Secondary Education at the University of Missouri - St. Louis. Within that program I learned how to work with college aged individuals with disabilities to discover their future goals and create plans to achieve them. I gained experience in a classroom setting, and in one on one meetings with students.
Having a specialty in Rehabilitation Counseling allows me to see disability through a different lens than most other counselors. I received extra education on the medical aspects of disability and how those diagnoses impact a person's physical, mental, and emotional health. I also received additional education on career development and job placement. This provides me with the skills to help a person find and maintain employment, regardless of their limitations.
