PHILOSOPHY
&
VALUES

EVERYONE CAN BE HELPED

I recognize the impact that even the smallest acts of compassion can have on an individual's well-being. Every interaction presents an opportunity to foster resilience, instill hope, and empower individuals to overcome obstacles. Even if it is just a kind word or a smile to help you get through the day.

FOCUS ON THE LIGHT

I believe that it is important to focus on the good things. Even if there is past trauma, and a general history of negative events, those are not near as important as as the positive ones. My overarching goal as a professional is to instill a sense of hope, resilience, and empowerment in those I work with. I took inspiration from a story shared by my professor about Milton Erikson called The African Violet.

KEEP AN OPEN MIND

I believe in adaptability. If the first approach doesn't work, it is simply an opportunity to explore other options. My focus remains on the client's desires, listening attentively and guiding them toward the most effective path. I also encourage clients to stay open-minded, welcoming change as a means of progress and personal development.

BE PATIENT

Great things take time. Nothing may be corrected in the first session so it is important to keep working to improve a person's mental health. Patience is also important when working with a client who is resistant. I can not help someone who does not want to be helped, but I can work with them to hopefully make them feel more comfortable with me. By fostering an environment of trust, respect, and non-judgmental understanding, I strive to create a safe space where individuals feel empowered to express themselves authentically and work towards achieving their goals.
